BSKF Associate Membership
Associate membership is intended for anyone who is not able to attend physical training at a BSKF branch on a regular basis, due to their location or other restrictions. It grants the individual access to participate in online training and grading programmes where these are provided by BSKF, and to also attend BSKF and IKA events and seminars.
Any practice without the physical supervision of a BSKF instructor, either individually or with a partner, is undertaken entirely at the individual's own risk. Any individual intending to practice at home or without an instructor's supervision is encouraged to complete a risk assessment of their own practice space and make arrangements for personal insurance as necessary.
Associate membership does however include accident and member-to-member liability insurance for a period of 1 year (Full Insurance) from purchase, for participation in any face to face classes or seminars led by an authorised BSKF instructor(s).
Upon joining, you will be assigned a branch master and enrolled as a remote member of their branch. They will be responsible for providing remote instruction and will be in touch to arrange participation in any online training and grading programmes.
By completing this purchase, BSKF acknowledges receipt of membership and confirms that the individual named below has valid membership and insurance cover for the practice of martial arts as provided by BSKF for the periods stated herein.
I have read, understand and agree to be bound by the below conditions with regard to Membership Status and the Declaration of Personal Fitness, and further declare that, being fully aware of the nature of practice of martial arts and associated exercises taught by BSKF instructors and their associated risks, and knowing of no reason or condition, medical or otherwise, that will and/or should preclude me from continued safe participation in the activities thereof, I hereby accept total responsibility and liability for my own personal well-being.
Martial arts taught by BSKF instructors are dynamic and very physical and, to a large extent, involve repeated and rapid practice of attack and defence exercises with other practitioners. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the safety of all concerned, accidents resulting in injury can occur. In order to minimise the risk of personal injury, or that of inflicting injury on others, it is entirely the responsibility of the individual, and a requirement of BSKF membership, to ensure that he/she:
- is of a level of personal physical fitness sufficient for the training required;
- does not knowingly participate in training whilst suffering from any ailment or injury, temporary or otherwise that might be aggravated by and/or lead to ailment and/or injury because of the activities involved in training;
- does not under any circumstances participate in training knowing that he/she is unfit to do so;
- carefully follows the guidance and instructions of instructors and/or supervisors as to the method and application of all exercises during training;
- immediately reports any injury, pain and/or discomfort encountered during training to an instructor/supervisor and thereafter seeks appropriate professional advice;
- conducts him/herself at all times in a responsible manner, considerate of their own well being and that of others.
